7 1/2 weeks

This weeks raves:

1. Sleep.

My child, who has had iffy sleeping habits from day one, slept from 8 pm until 2:30 am last night.

I am not sure if it will last. But crossing my fingers.

BTW, those with newborns who are super jealous right now....i.e. J and D - Don't be. I woke up 2 hours into this 6 1/2 hour sleeping spree as usual. She was not up. I was concerned. I checked on her. She was alive. I laid in bed, awake thinking any second she would wake up, so why bother falling asleep. She did not wake up, in fact. So I wasted 4 of those precious hours....Oh well. I will learn.

Regardless, I am still thankful because I believe, it happened once, it will happen again.

2. I HAVE come up with the perfect nickname for H!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Finally. I am big on nicknames, and when all else fails, I use the first initial. I hate calling people by real names....it seems so formal. Yes, I am a freak..whatever.

I was horrible with B, and could only come up with versions of monkey - like Monkaroo, and monkety, which has now all been shortened to monk. Boring I know....

but H has hit the jackpot of heinousness!!!!!! She is now referred to as Ghetto Blaster.

Come on.

You carry her around with you and she is loud.

So it is not uncommon to hear this phrase mentioned:

"Hey! someone shove a plug in ghetto blaster" (This means, get her a bottle)

Rants:

Websites you have to register for where you have to input your birthday, but your option for the year is a scroll box. AND THE BOX HAS THE CURRENT YEAR FIRST!

I was only born in 77, which in the grand scheme of people alive today is not that long ago!!!!!!!!! But I had to scroll through 2010, 2009, 2008, 2007............................................you get the picture. Yes, in reality it took me 10 seconds maybe, but those are 10 seconds I could have used to pee.

And seriously, is anyone using the computer born in 2010?????????????????? Just put a damn box where I can type in my own 4 digits and lets move on.

2. Security codes online. Yes. I get the purpose. But maybe you can make them so I can read them?

and I LOVE how they say by the "type here" box: "If you can't read this, click here for a new one"

F you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am sure we have the technology to fix this.

But come on, I am trying to comment on someones blog, not break into the FBI files. Let's get it together.

Update

I think I should add to taking time to myself.....

I just said to M who is watching TV "Can you please watch H & B while I Pay some bills?"

M said "Of Course"

So I layed all my paperwork out on the table to write checks and what not...

He proceeds to go into the kitchen and pour a cocktail. No big deal...and then walk outside and turn on the propane heater and sit on the deck.

So to broaden my resolution......I would like more time to myself as WELL AS help when I am paying bills and cleaning. And by help I mean, watch tv and keep an eye on the tiny ones. Seriously..is that to much to ask?

Resolutions

Since it is raining and I have a badly trained infant who wants to do nothing besides lay in her swing, half asleep, sucking on a bottle, sometimes eating and sometimes not.......I have a second to write an entry here.

By the way, I know the above is bad. It is a habit I am trying to break....but listening to her scream bloody murder all night when she is not sucking on it is hell...and all my research says to do whatever it takes to calm her down at this age.

At least formula to put in the bottles grows on trees like our money so that is good!!

I hate New Years resolutions and don't keep them, so dont make them, rather I am going to make a list of January 20th resolutions.

1) Keep tupperware cupboard organized. This cupboard pisses me off to even think about. It is oddly shaped for one. Two, I have to most heinous tupperware collection ever. Some square, some round, some one brand some another, so stacking it is out of the questions. I typically throw it all in there and close the door fast enough that the child locks hold it closed therefore keeping the tupperware inside.

I should clarify. All tupperware above should have quotes "tupperware" because I am faaaar to cheap to buy real stuff.

2) I am going to force myself to walk at least 30 minutes 5 days a week. I plan to actually lose the baby weight this time. Since there is no chance in hell I am going to get pregnant and then have an excuse to be fat, I may as well. Besides, even though I hate walking, I am wise enough to realize that it is time to myself, because Mike promised me he would watch the two youngest while I walk. So even though I am working out, I am free of bottles and deciphering language of a two year old, which brings me to me next and final resolution for now:

3) Take showers longer than 3 minutes. And no shower I will ever take again will be preficed with "Mike, can you please watch the kids for me while I take a quick shower?" And then I feel guilty the whole time.

I will now say "Mike I am taking a shower" and I will go in there and it will be fabulous.

5 1/2 weeks old

Here is the rundown on all of us...

Mike: Goes in for surgery next Thursday

Me: Still looking 5 months pregnant but and down 2 pounds from my pre-pregnancy weight. Scary considering how nasty my body is still looking....

Jesse: Still beyond cool....and far wiser than Mike and I.

Janee: played on the all-star soccer tournament last weekend in Yucaipa. We pulled the trailer out and camped. Her team was pretty kick ass so we expected fantastic things. Game 1 was against Temecula and they got there ass kicked. Their goalie even scored a goal for the other team. It was pretty bad....To have any chance at all of staying alive in the tournament, they needed to win the 2nd game 3-0, and no less. Wouldn't you know, they did it. Game 3 they won 1-0, so they advanced to the tournament of champions in Palm Desert in 3 weeks. Pretty neat stuff!

Brody: Talking up a storm and being a big helper. He is absolutly in LOVE with his train set and his bike.

Harlee: rolled over from front to back 2 days ago. She is waking up 2 times a night now. (usually around midnight and then again at 3). Hoping that sticks.....

So, there it is.....

Things I hate:

Pampers

Why the hell does everyone buy them? They use some kind of funky scent in their diapers that causes irritations and constant diaper rashes in both my kids...and I know 3 other people with the same issues...so it isn't just me. And yet, hospitals use them. So, newborns are supposed to be so senstive and all that, and they provide you with diapers that are not for sensitive skin.

So, stock up on diaper rash cream and baby power.

<3 huggies.

And by the way.......the kirkland diapers from Costco are identical to huggies and so are the up and up brand from Target....hmm...wonder why?

Things I LOVE:

1) My new electric blanket.

Ever since I had H, I have been sweqating my ass off at night (obviously), but am freezing.

Mike calls my nighttime routine "suiting up" because I wear 2 pairs of socks, a crochet pair of slipper things, a long sleeve shirt and flannel pants and sometimes my robe.....and then I pile 6 (no exagerating) blankets on the bed. This makes my bedding weigh 6oo lbs and it always falls on the floor. H is now 5 weeks old and Mike finally made the suggestion after 5 weeks of complaining to buy an electric blanket.

Holy crap!!!! It is the greatest thing EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!! It weighs nothing and yet is warmer than all my layers together. So now I can sleep in peace in Pj's. <3 love.

2) Sketchers shape-ups.

So UGLY. I would never wear them in public. But since I never sit down at home and am always walking, I decided I would try them out. (Besides I had $60.00 in Kolhs cash...they were almost free).

Holy shit, I am actually sore at night, from doing the SAME thing I do in a normal day.

1 month later...

Well, these past few days (actually more than a few days but I am not counting....) have not been easy. I am existing on Monster and the excitment of getting my hair colored and cut for the first time in over a year tomorrow.

My sweet and adorable H, is only sweet and adorable during the daylight hours turns out. At night, she is one pissed off, unhappy, child. And she is happy to let everyone in the vicinity know about it.

THANK GOD I have Mike home right now. I am not quite sure what I would do with myself if I had to deal with her right now on my own. Mind you this will come to an end next week when Mike has his surgery, but I would like to not think about that right now.

My kid has acid reflux I am guessing. (this is self diagnosis, but we dealt with the same thigs with B so I am pretty sure I am right)

I have added rice cereal to thicken her formula and she is now sleeping in her carseat. This did not work Saturday, Sunday, Monday or Tuesday, but Wednesday night, I put her down at 7:30 and she did not wake up to feed until 2:20, then 3:30, then 6:15. This is F'ing amazing!

Just to fill you in on how the nights usually go:

7:30 I put her down, and cross my fingers in fear....what if she does not fall asleep with this bottle? then what?

9:00 I put her down again, and repeat above.

10:30, Mike is on shift and feeds her and watches Spike TV for 2 hours till she falls asleep again.

1:30 she is up again......Mike is on duty

2:30, I am up to feed, she cries and screams for an hour, then pretends to sleep. I foolishly lay her down and get into bed. I have JUST enough time to get warm, and then she is screaming again, till 3:30, then 4:30, then she is hungry again...then it is 5:00 am where I do the "should I just stay up?" debate.....I do...and then I bitch out everyone in sight all day. Fun times.

So, this is night two of the car seat sleeping arrangement. It worked with B, so I am trying to stay positive, but we will see.

I will say that when I was pregnant with B, and after he was born, I became quite the napper. With H, both during pregnancy and up till now, I have not taken ONE nap. WTF? Who has a baby and never naps? I should get some kind of metal.

Aside from that...I joined weight watchers and started walking. like a madman. For one, it burns off some steam, and gives me a few seconds of energy....and two, I am a fatass and over it.....

Tomorrow finishes up my first week so we will see how it went.
