Trash can dilema

Can someone please explain to me, the kids bathroom trash can?

So big - so not full - so why all the trash on the floor?

I ask you this - If you use a tissue and are going to move towards the trash can to toss it, why wouldn't you actually toss it inTO the trash rather than next to it?

Also, if you are going to use up all the shampoo, and are going to take the time to remove it from the shower, and set it on the counter, why not just set it in the trash can?

Consequently, I have now taken to going into their bathroom with a Sharpee marker, and writing names onto the assorted items in there, to designate who's responsibility it is to throw it away.

Because amazingly, no one ever did it...................
