Mike is on his way home from work...for the last time for who knows how long. He had his pre-op appt. yesterday. Dr. says he could be off work anywhere from 2 1/2 months to 6 months. Shut the fuck up!
Can I tell you how fucking scary it is to be pregnant, in the middle of adding on to a house, and then having your husband quiting work? I know it needs to be done but I can't tell you that I didn't cry on the way to school last night after Mike called to tell me he would be getting a ride home from work today since he had to turn his truck in.
So the next question is: Do we buy him a truck now? What if his company has no work in months when he goes back to work? That means he wont have a company truck...how does he get to work? How do we buy a truck when neither if us have jobs? I mean, I would love to go into Toyota 6 months preggo and wink at the guy and walk out with a truck, but that isn't likely..and if we dont buy a truck...how do we get material to our house for the addition?
Fuck...
Our impression of the surgery was they would be cutting his big toe open, scraping out the arthritis and sewing him back up. Turns out it is a 4 inch incision. They slice his joint completely apart. Scrape out the arthritis, put a pin in the joint, and sew him back up. Apparently there is no permanent fix. In a few years, he will have to go in and have a fake joint installed, which has about a 5 year life. Meaning this will continue for life.
On another note, we finally got our first quote for installing a roof on the new addition: $4900. Fab considering we were estimating about 10,000 for the whole thing....clearly we both should stick with the field aspect of construction and not that office end.. :) and so it begins!

Yikes.
That surgery sounds gnarly, and I hear foot surgery is the most painful surgery you can have. Poor Mike. :(
We have a Tahoe for sale. ;)
Dude, that does suck!
I hope all goes well with his surgery. 2 1/2 months is a long time to be off work. EEESH! Let me know if we can do anything for you guys! I'll send Big D over there to lift the heavy stuff.....
Hang in there! (((HUGS))
